Protecting the dignity of the dead during the Covid-19 pandemic

In light of corpses found in the Ganges river, a petition has been filed before the Supreme Court requesting it to form three-tier committees at the national, state and panchayat/municipality level to look after the disposal of dead bodies with dignity. The petition also asks the Court to order strict action against officials who charge excess money to perform last rites at crematoriums or graveyards.
