Code on Wages

This explainer discusses what minimum wages are, payment of wages, payment of bonus, employers’ responsibilities, and punishments for violating the law. It primarily deals with the law laid out in the Code on Wages, 2019, which will soon replace these existing laws like Payment of Wages Act, 1936, Minimum Wages Act, 1948, Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 and Equal Remuneration Act, 1976.
